Webster Gets NBA Try-Out

2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup - Day FourIn an exciting development Tall Blacks shooting guard Corey Webster has received an invitation to attend a NBA trainingcamp hosted by the Indiana Pacers. The camp will be held on 16-18th June and will consist of scrimmaging and training in front of the Pacers coaching staff, GM and executives.

The opportunity arises due to Webster’s outstanding progress over the past twelve months. He was a stand out for the Tall Blacks at the FIBA World Cup in Spain last year where he averaged 13.7 points per game. Given a starters role, he was also a vital cog in the Breakers NBL Championship run, leading the team in scoring (15.5ppg) as they collected their fourth title.

Currently he is enjoying his first European venture, displaying fine form for Mega Leks in the Serbian Super League. Leks are fourth on the table.

The Lowdown wishes Webster well as he chases every basketballer’s dream of playing in the NBA.

Webster finding his Groove

A large points haul a couple of weeks ago has quickened the scoring pulse of Corey Webster. It was only a friendly encounter in Greece against PAOK that Webster knocked down 27 points but it was just the tonic the Tall Blacks point guard needed. Back in Serbia he has scored 49 points in three outings for his club Mega Leks in the Serbian Super League.

Last week the Tall Blacks guard scored 16 points in the loss to Metalac Farmakom. This was followed by 12 points in the 41 points demolition of Tamis.

On Monday Webster sunk 5 from 7 triples on his way to a game high 21 points as Leks improved their record to 2-3 to move up to fifth (8 teams) in the Super league.

With games coming thick and fast Leks play again on Thursday at FMP Belgrade who have the same 2-3 record
