The Flyers entertained the Bartercard Taranaki Thunder at the TSB Bank Arena and came away with a hard fought 80-73 victory.
The Thunder made the slightly better start edging out to an early 11-8 lead although that advantage had been erased by quarter time as the Flyers finished the first period just ahead 17-16.
The margin was still a single point in favour of the hosts at half time, 40-39.
Taranaki had the better of the third quarter and led by Zoe Kensington and Rebekah Trethewey were still ahead, 67-66, entering the final five minutes of the game.
However, powered by a dominant performance from Beks van Kuyk (24ts/19rebs), the hosts dominated the closing moments to record their fifth win of the season in an exciting encounter that saw the lead change hands 14 times.
Capital Flyers 80 – Van Kuyk 24/19, Shanee Kiriau 11, Te Amo Amaru-Tibble 10, Jessica Slade 6/10.
Taranaki Thunder 73 – Kensington 20, Toni Schrader 15, Trethewey 12/15, Vanessa McCarthy 12.
