Premier Girls – Round 11 Wrap

Round 11 Wrap from Auckland Secondary School Girls Premier Grade, brought to you by Northern Kāhu, features wins for Baradene, Westlake, Mt Albert Grammar and St Kentigern College.

Recently returned from the FIBA U17 World Cup in Hungary, New Zealand representative Waimanu Clarken dominated proceedings against Carmel College.

The combo-guard amassed 41 points as Mt Albert defeated Carmel 91-61 to move to outright third on the Premier ladder.

April Liu and Jorgia Fiu also enjoyed good scoring night’s in an all-round team display from the hosts.

For Carmel Zahara Tibbotts scored a season best 22 points while Jemma Cammell and Ruby Railton also made double digit contributions.

Also back from U17 World Cup duty is Baradene College centre Ritorya Tamilo and she was the difference maker in a 67-58 win against Epsom Girls Grammar.

Tamilo finished with 28 points, Baradene only pulling away in the closing minutes after protecting a 49-48 three-quarter time advantage.

Maya Fowler excelled for Epsom making a career high 8 threes in her 26-point haul.

Baradene 67 – Tamilo 28, Faleafa 12, topia 10, Parke 8

U15 Nationals MVP Kodee Williams-Sefo scored a team high 16 points but St Mary’s College were beaten 51-38 in a low scoring contest by Saint Kentigern College.

St Mary’s had the better of the opening spell winning it 15-12 but thereafter, with points hard to come by, were no match for St Kent’s.

As she has regularly this season Ashleigh Tuumaialu led the way for St Kent’s with 18 points – Maia Bennett and Anamia Rangihaeata scored 13 points apiece.

In the other game of the round Westlake Girls overpowered Rangitoto College to register a 120-30 victory.

Amy Pateman, the third New Zealand Girl’s U17 World Cup member plying her skills on Friday, led all scorers with 28 points.
