Epsom Girls Grammar enjoyed a morale boosting win on Friday night at Carmel College defeating the hosts 81-72.
EGGS face Auckland Grammar next Thursday in the Prems Play-off game and having come close to gaining promotion from the Senior A Grade in each of the last two-years will be eager for success this time around.
The win was built around the experienced duo of Florence Dallow (21 points) and Sarah Joy Aruwa (38 points) – Carmel having difficulty in stopping the powerful drives of Aruwa.
EGGS also had useful contributions from Lauren Boxall-Hunt (10 points) and Te Ataiti Kukutai-Wairau (6 points).
Leading the scoring for Carmel were Jemma Cammell and Isobel MacGregor with 14 points apiece, Katie Linstrom notched 10 points whilst Mac MacKereth and Qaizden Stephano each had 9.
Despite the loss Carmel will be content with the performance as they prepare for the 2020 Premier campaign. Having lost five year 13’s from last season there will be opportunities galore for their young players to make their mark in the coming weeks.
