The final Lowdown Team of the Week for the Womens’s NCAA Div I regular season sees Waikato’s Kaylee Smiler feature along with regulars Dale, Heremaia, Book and Graham.
McKenna Dale, junior at Brown University Bears
The Bears may be a disappointing 2-10 in Ivy League play but McKenna Dale is making every post a winner. The Bears lost their last road game of the season 74-60 against Penn but it was a game to savour for Dale who scored a career high 27 points.
It takes her season tally to 318 points at 12.7 per game.
Kendell Heremaia, junior at Fordham University Rams
Kendell Heremaia produced a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds but Fordham fell 74-63 at Duquenese. It was a shooting night to forget for the Fordham co-captain who made just 4 from 23 from the field.
Fordham finished Atlantic 10 regular season play with an 11-5 record securing third spot on the ladder. They will face St Joseph’s in the first round of the conference play-offs on Wednesday.
Amiee Book, sophomore at California State University Fullerton Titans.
Amiee Book gave something of a shooting clinic as the Titans beat Hawaii 70-64. Book was 4 from 5 from behind the arc and a perfect 4 from 4 from the foul line as she scored 23 points. That’s the sixth time this season the former Waimea College standout has scored 20+ points.
Tegan Graham, senior at Colgate University Raiders
Colgate (11-6), second on the Patriot League ladder were beaten by top of the table Bucknall (14-2) 76-65. Tegan Graham came up with 22 points plus a steal and a block.
Colgate slipped to a second straight loss defeated 81-67 at Army – 13 points for the senior in that one.
Kaylee Smiler, freshman at Brigham Young University
Kaylee Smiler came up with 7 points, 3 rebounds and a couple of assists as BYU closed out the regular season with a 57-42 win against Loyola Marymount in the West Coast Conference. A play-off game on Friday at the WCC Championships is the next appointment for the Cougars.
Charlotte Whittaker scored 8 points for the University of Colorado in their 66-55 loss at USC to conclude the Pac 12 regular season with a 5-13 record. They meet USC again on Thursday in the first round of the Pac 12 play-offs.
Pareunuroa Pene and Tennessee Chattanooga clinched a share of the Southern Conference regular season title with a narrow 69-65 win against ETSU. Chattanooga will meet Mercer later this week in the Tournament Championships Quarter-Finals.
