New Zealand beat Bahrain in Asian Championship opener

New Zealand got their FIBA U18 Asian Championship campaign underway with a first up victory against Bahrain in Thailand on Sunday.

Building on their 94-45 success against Kazakhstan in a warm up game a couple of days earlier the Kiwis proved too strong for their Croup C opponents winning 94-62.

All 12 New Zealand players featured on the scoring list with Canterbury guard Max de Geest leading the effort with 19 points (4/7 3PG).
