Mika Vukona will play his 250th game for the SKY CITY Breakers against Perth Wildcats on Thursday. He will join former club captain and current assistant coach Paul Henare at the top of the all time list of individual appearances for the club.
Below are some other numbers around this record.
It is probably forgotten that Vukona, back then a development player, scored a couple of points in the Breakers inaugural game in the NBL, a 111-110 victory over Adelaide 36ers. He played just two more games in that 2003-04 campaign and eight games the following season. Vukona has never missed a game for the Breakers since signing as a fully contracted player in 2005.
He played 102 consecutive games between 2005 and 2008 and since returning to the Breakers in 2010 has played a further 141 consecutive games. That’s 243 successive games for the club since February 2005 when his teammates on that night were Aaron Olson, Paul Henare, Lindsay Tait, Pero Cameron, Mike Chappell, Ben Pepper, Ben Thompson, Dillon Boucher and Marcus Timmins Along the way he has amassed 1,860 points and 1,697 rebounds.
