Fotu follows familiar footsteps

Isaac Fotu this week joined La Bruixa d’Or Manresa on a season long loan from fellow Spanish club Zaragoza. A couple of familiar names have played for Manresa in the past. A young Serge Ibaka played for the club in the 2008-09 season. The Spanish international is now of course a premier player in the NBA and  a teammate of Steven Adams at the Oklahoma City Thunder. Prior to that, back in 1997-98 Derrick Alston played for Manresa before going on to play for Spanish powerhouses Barcelona and Real Madrid during an illustrious professional career. Do you remember Alston? He joined the Breakers mid season in December 2007, replacing the injured Rick Rickert. The classy centre helped the Breakers overcome the Cairns Taipans, 100-78 in the club’s first ever play-off game. Alston had his way with the Taipans recording a double double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. He played just 16 games but still holds the club record for most block per game – 1.4
