Mexicali Fresh Summer Jam Round 6

Round Six of the Mexicali Fresh Summer Jam produced a couple of fairly even contests. First up the unbeaten Save Youthtown (6-0) accounted for MaiFM 88 Sixers (2-4) 90-83. Ana Haku (19pts) led the Youthtown scoring and Dillon Boucher, normally content to fill the assists and rebounds stats columns, contributed 16 points. Forwards Patrich Bolstad and Yaran Ghassemi scored 13pts and 16pts respectively with the ever-lively Derone Raukawa knocking down 14 pts. The Sixers missed the inside presence of Morgan Natanahira but kept the game close all the way thanks to Hayden Allen (23pts), Nick Barrow (20pts) and Tyler Kerlin 14pts. Breakers Development (3-3) had Matt Freeman, Tai Wynyard and Sam Colenutt away at Junior Tall Blacks camp but still had enough firepower to defeat The Birdmen (1-5) 92-82. Duane Bailey fresh from his fine performance for the senior team last Friday against Melbourne United had a 22pts/12rebs double double and he was ably assisted by Brad Anderson (25pts). Yanni Wetzel, Yut Alok and Jordan Ngatai were also double figures contributors. Marco Alexander was a welcome addition to the Birdmen line-up. Back from Melbourne whilst awaiting hip surgery Alexander scored 15 points, fellow guard Karl Noyer bagged 10 points. The experienced forward duo of Casey Frank (16pts) and Johnny Fesolai with 22 points were able to keep the scoreboard ticking but not at a fast enough clip to run down the young Breakers team
