Abercrombie’s French Connection comes to an end

ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne was swept 2-0 in the French ProA League quarter final series by Limoges.

ASVEL entered the series full of optimism having lost the regular season encounters by just 3 points and 5 points. That optimism was replaced by cruel reality as ASVEL lost 92-56 on the road in game one.

They performed marginally better in game two at home – level 46-46 at half time – but gave up 30 points in the third quarter eventually losing 96-74.

Surprisingly Abercrombie was only afforded 11 minutes court time in game two having put in a strong performance in game one. He didn’t trouble the scorers (0/2 field goals) and grabbed just one rebound.

He now heads back to New Zealand to prepare for the Tall Blacks programme beginning in July. The interesting question is will he turn out for the Waikato Pistons in the second half of the NBL season.
