Tom Abercrombie and his ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne colleagues started their quarter final series against Limoges in the French National League play-offs full of optimism.
Seventh placed ASVEL lost both league games against the second placed Limoges this season but with the margins just 3 points and 5 points they were optimistic about their chances of progressing to the semi-final.
That optimism was cruelly exposed in game one on Monday, Limoges thumping ASVEL 92-56. Abercrombie had a solid game playing 20 minutes, accumulating 9 points (6/6FT’s), 7 rebounds (5 offensive) and 2 assists.
ASVEL will need to regroup quickly for the second game in 48 hours time but at least that game will be on their home court.
In other overseas news Puerto Rico based Gary Wilkinson has moved clubs in mid season. He played 11 games for Indios de Mayaguez (6-11) but has rejoined Vaqueros de Bayamon (9-8) the team he had success with in 2012 and 2013.
