Tom Abercrombie and his ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne team are leaving their qualification for the French National League play-offs a little late.
The eighth placed ASVEL (16-13) lost a home game against second place Limoges (19-10) on Tuesday.
Fortunately ASVEL can make amends as they play bottom of the league Roanne in their final regular season game next weekend. A win will secure their play-off berth. A loss and they will be relying on third on the ladder Le Mans beating ninth place Orleans.
If both results go against ASVEL Abercrombie’s French expedition will be cut short.
Against Limoges ASVEL found themselves down 45-26 at half time before a strong third quarter showing reduced the deficit to just 5 points. However the visitors hung on in the last period to win 73-70 and leave ASVEL a nervous few days leading up to the critical final weekend of round robin games.
