Tai Wynyard is New York bound

Tai Wynyard is beginning to turn heads both in New Zealand and overseas.

The 16 year old Rangitoto College student has been invited to attend the prestigious Jordan Brand Classic, home of the USA’s premier high school All-Star games. Now in it’s 13th year, the Classic features the best high school players from the US and across the globe.

The Classic comprises of three exhibition games, all played at the Barclays Centre, New York on April 18th. Tai will be playing in the International game, the curtain raiser on the day. This is followed by a local game highlighting the best young players in the New York area. The final game is the All American fixture, broadcast live on ESPN and featuring the best school players in the US, in a East v West contest.

Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Blake Griffin highlight the NBA talent that has attended the Jordan Brand Classic in the past.

Wynyard will be in high octane company in New York but the way he performed on his NBL debut at the weekend for the Super City Rangers (14pts/2 rebounds/1 block/1 steal), suggests he will take it all in his rather long stride.
