Vukona plays 300th NBL game

The Sky City Breakers resources were tested with two games in 48 hours. Already reduced to a nine-man rotation the team also had to manage without Daryl Corletto for the game against Townsville Crocodiles on Thursday evening. Corletto returned to the fray in Cairns but only played four minutes.

Notable numbers from the double header:

7 – Kerron Johnson dished off 7 assists against the Crocs and moved past 100 assists for the season. However the diminutive point guard didn’t feature in the closing minutes of either game. Has coach Vickerman lost confidence in Johnson’s decision making.

26:29 The amount of court time CJ Bruton enjoyed as he gave a vintage display against the Crocs – 14 points/6 assists/2 steals. If Johnson’s form has waned in recent weeks, CJ’s has certainly been on the rise.

29 – A season high 29 points from Tom Abercrombie (12/19 from the field) helped the Breakers ease to a 4th consecutive home win on Thursday.

500 – Against Townsville Gary Wilkinson recorded his second consecutive double double (14 points/10 rebounds). His rebounding tally took him past 500 boards for the club, the 9th Breaker to pass this mark.

300 – The number of NBL games played by Mika Vukona, Dillon Boucher (325 games) is the only Kiwi to have played more ANBL games.

2000 – With 14 points against the Crocs CJ Bruton became only the 2nd Breakers player to score 2,000 points for the club – Kirk Penney is the club’s leading scorer with 2517 points. In addition to being the second all time leading scorer for the Breakers CJ is 3rd all time in assists and steals.
