After three days of high quality basketball we now know the top six teams that will contest the play-off rounds of the 2015 Women’s Basketball Championship at Finals weekend in Porirua next month. Harbour Breeze, Waikato Wizards and Auckland Counties Manukau Lady Hawks will join the three South Island teams, Probands Nelson Sparks, Oceana Gold Rush Otago and NZ Home Loans Canterbury Wildcats. Women’s Basketball Championship Day 1

The team registering the biggest gain on the opening day of Tournament 2 of the 2015 Women’s Basketball Championships in Christchurch was Oceana Gold Rush Otago. Emphasising the closeness of the competition Otago was the only team to record two wins on the day. The double moved them up to second on the overall standings with a 6-1 record. Continue reading

WBC Day 2 Review

So who were the movers and shakers on day two of the second WBC tournament of 2014 being held at the Alan Brewster Centre, Papatoetoe?

Gold Rush Otago and Auckland/Counties Manukau Lady Hawks certainly came away with smiles, so did the Junior Tall Ferns as all three registered a couple of wins. The Hawks eased past Canterbury Wildcats 64-84 in the morning but in the afternoon had a much tighter encounter against Waikato Wizards. Continue reading
