HENARE NAMES FIRST TALL BLACKS ROSTER
Paul Henare has today named his first roster as head coach of the national programme, with 14 players named to travel to Europe for games against Great Britain, Croatia and Slovenia before that number is further reduced to 12 for the Oceania Series against Australia in August, with the winner booking a place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The play-off aspirations of the Ballarat Miners were dealt a blow when they suffered a home defeat, 85-75, against the Hobart Chargers in the SEABL competition (South East Basketball League) on Saturday. The Miners dug themselves a hole in the first half, trailed 40-32 and failed to extract themselves in the second half and have slipped to an 8-8 record. Continue reading
Good news for coach Paul Henare is that Everard Bartlett, with the Tall Blacks trial taking place next week, appears to have found his scoring touch at the right time. He followed up his 16 points effort last week with a game high 22 points on Saturday as the Ballarat Miners accounted for the Brisbane Spartans 106-82 in the South East Basketball League.
