The Sky City Breakers are about to announce 30 players who will trial for Development player spots for the 2014/15 ANBL season. The trials will take place at Atlas Place this coming Saturday and Sunday.
As last year the group includes some candidates with considerable NBL experience – Ethan Rusbatch (Rams), Brad Anderson (Airs), Marco Alexander (Hawks), Nick Barrow (Pistons) and Alonzo Burton (Jets) boast 271 NBL appearances between them.
Some of the younger brigade have been making waves in high school and age group basketball for a couple of seasons. The likes of Matt Freeman, Isaac Letoa, Jaylen Gerrand and Richard Rodger fall into that category.
Burton and Luuk Witteveen were Development players last season but will have to trial strongly to hold off fierce competition if they are to be re-signed. The other two players from last season’s group have moved on. Jack Salt has taken up a four-year scholarship at the University of Virginia and Duane Bailey has earned promotion to the SKY CITY Breakers senior playing group.
Tai Wynyard, away on Tall Blacks duty will obviously not trial but he must be a strong contender for one of the four or five places available.
