Webster Assists Breakers to Win against Kings

The Sky City Breakers 18 points, 105-87 victory over the Sydney Kings last Thursday was the Breakers largest win of the season.

Some of the other numbers from the game;

3  Breakers number 3 Daryl Corletto came off worst when he got in a tangle with a number of other bodies as the buzzer sounded at half time. Probably not a good idea for a guard to get in the way of diving forwards like Mika Vukona and Sydney’s Tom Garlepp. A medial ligament strain seems to have come right as the shooting guard appeared to be moving relatively freely at practice on Saturday morning.

5  I’m liking Corey Webster’s improved form. He had 5 assists for the third time in five games much to the delight of coach Dean Vickerman who is enjoying seeing the combo guard sharing the ball and being more active on defence.

6 The first time this season six Breakers players have been in double figures – Abercrombie 20, Johnson 17, Wilkinson 17, Vukona 15, Te Rangi 14 and Frank 11.

7 Season high rebounds from the pocket rocket Kerron Johnson to go with 17pts/3 assists/2 steals. He’s averaging 14.0 ppg for the season.

11   Casey Frank’s 11 points was his first double digits contribution in his fourth game with the team. There are glowing reports about the contribution he is making to the team on and off the court, don’t be surprised if he remains on the roster for the remainder of the season.

20  Twenty points or more from Tom Abercrombie for the fourth time in five games in 2014. He’s averaging 15.4ppg for the season and 17.6ppg since the turn of the year.

32  Points off the bench difference was massive. The Breakers got 32 points from their back up men compared with a miserable 6 from Sydney’s reserves.

57  The Breakers shot 57% (41 from 72) from the field, their best effort of the season, a percentile better than the 56% shooting against Wollongong last week.

73 Congratulations to Jack Salt who got on court for the last few seconds of the game. He is the 73rd player to play for the club in the ANBL.

6152 Another good crowd at Vector Arena. Almost twice the number that were in attendance at NSEC the previous week. There is no doubting where the casual fans want to watch their basketball.
