Harbour join Counties in Final

The second semi between unbeaten North Harbour and Porirua promised to be a tight affair but Harbour got out the blocks the quickest leading 21-12 at quarter time.

A pair of threes from Jordan Ngatai early in the second period helped the Porirua cause but Harbour were well in control 37-20 midway through the stanza and 45-27 at the main break. Isaac Fotu contributed an imposing 17 points for Harbour, he and his fellow forwards Mike Bekker and Saman Mohammad in dominant form. Little changed in the third period, Harbour still comfortably ahead 63-41 with ten minutes remaining. With a shallow bench at the end of a long tournament Porirua were unable to mount a final period charge. Long before the end, thirty points ahead the Harbour bench were receiving an extended run, Aaron Young relieved of towel waving support duties to help deliver an emphatic 80-55 victory based on a total team effort.

Fotu led all scorers with 30 points Ngati playing a strong hand for Porirua with 27 points.

The Womens semi finals early on Saturday will pitch Harbour against Canterbury and Capital against Waikato.
