Tall Blacks Depth Chart

The Sky City Breakers use a depth chart to help them track potential players and make decisions when recruiting. With the NBL season wrapping up last month, having observed the recent trials for the Breakers Development spots and the Tall blacks last night, I decided to create a Tall Blacks depth chart – what do you think of my choices? Keep in mind I haven’t considered active NBL players now retired from the international game, Dillon Boucher, Phill Jones, Hayden Allen and Mark Dickel. A number of players can play in more than one position but for the sake of discussion I have nominated them in positions I feel they would be most suited for on the international stage.

In the 2, 4 and 5 positions we are in good shape but it is at point guard and small forward positions that our bench could be exposed at the international level.  Reuben Te Rangi and Tai Webster have proven their worth at domestic level but mcuh may depend on their progress in the next 12 months. Nenad Vucinic is spoilt for choice in the Power Forward position where he has five legitimate options. Even with this depth, Vucinic will need his key players to be fit and firing to make a deep run at next year’s World Championships.
