Busy at Breakers

Breakers Academy head coach and Sky City Breakers assistant coach Judd Flavell is gearing himself up for a busy few days. The Academy team, minus Jack Salt of course (in China with the Tall Blacks), are this week playing a couple of games against the Indiana Wesleyan University team. The first game is tomorrow night, August 31st, tip off 7.30pm at Atlas Place. The second encounter is the following night, 7.30pm at Tamaki Recreation Centre.

This coming Saturday and Sunday Flavell will be overseeing the trials that will determine which players get offered Development Player contracts for the upcoming 2013-14 NBL season. Approximately 30  young players, 15-22 years, many with New Zealand NBL experience will be in attendance along with players transitioning from age group representative basketball. There are also a couple of players paying their own way to attend from the USA.

The Academy squad will be in action again next week with games against the touring Athletes in Action team, both games being played at Atlas Place. The first will be at 7pm on Wednesday August 7th and the second on Saturday August 10th, also at 7pm.

If you are in Auckland why not drop in and catch the action, should be worth watching. I will provide game reports and trial updates on a regular basis.
