In Round 8 of the Auckland Secondary Schools Girls Premier Grade competition Westlake Girls made it eight straight wins while there were also victories for Takapuna Grammar, Manurewa High School and Rangitoto College.
Takapuna Grammar School and St Kentigern College were tied for second spot on the Premier ladder before their matchup on Friday. In an entertaining contest it was Takapuna that eventually prevailed 76-65 on the back of a combined 53 points from the back court duo of Amy McKenzie and Bailey Flavell.
St Kent’s had the better of the opening exchanges as impressive young centre Kilani Tuineau dominated the boards while also exhibiting good offensive skills in accumulating ten points as they established a 29-19 lead.
Takapuna began to close the gap at the back end of the first half – after a triple from Gigi Forster kept Saints in the ascendancy, Natalja Burton scored the last four points of the half to tie proceedings at 34 points apiece.
A brace of threes from Ash Tuumaialu and Charlie Yock were countered by a triple from McKenzie and a trio from deep from Flavell – Takapuna ahead 52-49 with a quarter to play.
Tuineau was the main scoring source for St Kent’s in the final period although it was the combined efforts of Flavell, Burton and Amelia Glenn that were enough to guide Takapuna to the win.
The offensive abilities of Eva Veale, Peyton Laurence and Mela Andrews enabled Rangitoto College to boss the opening half against Epsom Girls Grammar – the hosts ahead 35-22 at half-time.
Epsom came out strongly after the interval – Draun Forbes, Kiyara Te Amo and Kiki Reti combined to score all 18 points as the visitors won the third period 18-12.
A low scoring fourth quarter followed – 5 points from Andrews and a series of free throws enough for Rangi to close out the win.
In the opening game of the season Westlake were pushed all the way by Northcote before eventually winning and it looked as if a similar pattern would emerge with the difference just six points (21-15) at the quarter time break.
Despite a triple from Holly Walters the second period, with Imani Rasmussen scoring 10 points and Emma Schroeder 6, also went the way of Westlake by six meaning the lead was 43-31 at the main break.
Eight points from Lily Morgan, on her way to a team high 20, kept the Northcote score ticking over but Kodee Williams-Sefo, Zenthia Stowers and Rasmussen took the game away from Northcote in the third period – Westlake 66-48 ahead.
It was all Westlake in the final frame as they cantered to win number eight.

Manurewa High enhanced their top four credentials with a 71-60 road win at Mt Albert Grammar.
Meiya Lemafa scored a game high 21 points with 12 of those scored in the opening period as MAGS established a 22-16 lead.
It was much the same story in the second as Lemafa, aided by Phoenix Kaipo, took MAGS out to a 40-27 advantage at the halfway mark.
The momentum began to swing in favour of Manurewa after the break – a combined five triples from Taisha and Emily Tanira helped the visitors close to within a single point at three-quarter time (53-52).
Waimihi Hetaraka-Brown added another triple and with Bella Manu-Moore and Taisha Tanira combining for 16 points MAGS were outscored 19-7 in the closing minutes.
Round 8 of the Auckland Secondary Schools Boys Premier Grade saw the top three teams strengthen their grip on those places while Mt Albert Grammar were the biggest movers after a third straight win.
Rosmini College and St Kentigern College were both missing starters due to a combination of U17 New Zealand commitments (Jameer Reed [Rosmini] and Hunter Te Ratana [St Kent’s]) and injuries.
Jamie Griffin, Charlie Hughes and Cooper Te Ratana launched the St Kent’s effort with long range threes although 10 first quarter points from Chris Wyllie gave the home side a 25-15 lead.
The margin hovered around ten points through the second period – 13 points in the spell from Bart Jackowski gave Rosmini a 54-37 half-time lead.
Te Ratana and Noah Heke were outstanding for St Kent’s but with Josh Wyllie and Mattie Dalton complimenting the afore mentioned Jackowski and Chris Wyllie, the Rosmini lead steadily increased throughout the second period.

Auckland Grammar bounced back from Monday night’s loss at Westlake with an 87-75 victory over local rivals St Peter’s College.
Both sides were missing their New Zealand U17 representative – Gus Dallow from St Peter’s and Jackson Kiss from AGS – and it was probably St Peter’s the more inconvenienced as they trailed 41-37 at half-time.
Spencer Carr, headed to a game high 29 points, had 16 of those at the interval while AGS had double figure efforts from Lawson Pryor and Bobby Neels.
9 points from Brigham Hakaraia helped AGS edge the third period 22-18 despite 11 points from Carr.
Alex Davis and Bryan Marsters kept St Peter’s in touch but it was the 9 fourth quarter points from Hakaraia that put the lid on the AGS victory.

Mt Albert Grammar lost their opening five games of the season but have since won three on the bounce with their latest success an 82-67 home win against Sacred Heart College.
A close opening frame was edged 15-13 by MAGS who tightened their grip on the contest in the second to lead 36-22 at the interval with Lucas Cartwright, Mose Leliasamaivao and Josh Beattie leading the way for the hosts – Sam Snowdon with 10 points for Heart.
Six third quarter points from Cam Stewart helped trim the margin to 8 points (52-44) at three-quarter time as a close finish threatened.
Justin Lacsi, See Ieremia and Stewart hit threes and Jamie Vile accumulated 9 points for Heart but Cartwright, Leliasamaivao and Dayton Simkin replied in kind for MAGS and with Leliasamaivao making 9 of his game high 23 in the fourth Mt Albert eased to victory.
Westlake Girls (7-0) are the clear leaders at the mid-point of the Auckland Secondary Schools Girls Premier Grade regular season. The reigning champions are unbeaten at this stage and two wins clear of their nearest rivals.
Those closest rivals are St Kentigern College and Takapuna Grammar with 5-2 records followed by a bunch of teams scrapping for the fourth play-off spot.
With all ten players scoring 7 points or more Westlake were untroubled in recording their seventh consecutive win of the season, easing past Epsom Girls Grammar 115-29.

Further north Rangitoto College left their best until last to record a come from behind 58-51 home win against Mt Albert Grammar School.
Rangitoto were marginally in front at the first break (13-11) before Payton Uri and Lara Cocker-Lemalie combined to give MAGS a 26-24 half-time lead.
Eva Veale scored half a dozen points for Rangi in the third but Cocker-Lemalie and Gianna Tiatia inflicted further damage on the hosts defence to stretch the MAGS lead to 42-37 at three-quarter time.
A couple of threes from Payton Laurence sparked the Rangi run in the fourth and down the stretch it was points from the foul line that got them home – Sienna Maurice, Veale and Mela Andrews all successful as MAGS were outscored 21-9 through the closing minutes.

Manurewa High claimed their fourth win of the season with a vital 72-61 victory at St Kentigern College.
There was little to choose between the two teams in the early exchanges – Manurewa were up by one point (21-20) at quarter time although it was all locked up at 34 points apiece at half-time.
St Kent’s guard Ash Tuumaialu, on her way to a game high 32 points, scored 9 of them in the third quarter but that was matched by Taisha Tanira and with skipper Zhendy Li and Alyssa Uluheua chiming in with triples Manurewa held a 54-50 half-time lead.
Manurewa secured the win in the fourth by holding St Kent’s to 11 points while at the offensive end a balanced scoring effort was led by Taisha and Emily Tanira.

On the back of 42 points from Bailey Flavell Takapuna Grammar beat Northcote College 87-67 although it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Northcote challenge was finally subdued.
Flavell and Manaia Watson provided the bulk of the first half scoring for Takapuna but with Lily Morgan in double figures Northcote only trailed 45-40 at the interval.
Natalja Burton and Amy McKenzie combined for a dozen points in the third as the Takapuna advantage grew to 62-50.
Forward Ema Lavemaau and guard Lisa Gear regularly posted points for Northcote in the fourth but a trio of threes from Flavell and another from Arabella Neville secured a fifth win for Takapuna and moves them to equal second on the ladder alongside St Kentigern.
At the halfway mark of the Auckland Secondary Schools Boys Premier Grade regular season there is a three-way tie at the top of the standings with Auckland Grammar, Westlake Boys and Rosmini College each having 6-1 records.
Previously unbeaten Auckland Grammar were involved in the game of the round, and probably the season to date, on Monday night when travelling to Westlake Boys. In a pulsating affair that went to overtime Westlake, courtesy of a put back on the buzzer from young guard Daley Pohio, pipped Grammar 99-98.
It was plain sailing for Westlake in the early minutes as they forged a 34-16 opening quarter lead with Noah Rasmussen rushing to a dozen points.
AGS came to life in the second scoring 22 points but still found themselves adrift 49-38 at the interval.
A couple of And-1 effort plays from Troy Supple were countered by triples from Sol Anderson and Taye Thompson meaning Westlake were 66-55 ahead at three-quarter time although the fun was about to unfold.
With Jackson Kiss and Lawson Pryor to the fore Grammar produced a 15-3 run midway through the fourth to grab their first lead of the game before Supple tied proceedings at 75 points apiece.
A good Monday night crowd were kept on the edge of their seats during the final four minutes as the two teams went basket for basket.
Pohio put Westlake up 80-79 with 3 minutes to play and Harper Wilson made it 82-79 with under 2 to play.
Each time a resolute Grammar hit back with Kiss reeling off a couple of acrobatic plays and when he and Brigham Hakaraia made scores Grammar led 86-84 inside the final minute.
A Westlake timeout produced the required response – a Rasmussen drive through traffic tying an absorbing contest.
The five lead changes in the last four minutes of regulation were a taster for what transpired in the extra five minutes.
Kiss scored the opening points of overtime before baskets from Supple and Rasmussen took Lake ahead 90-88.
With 2:12 to play a corner three from Pohio eased Lake to a 94-89 lead but before the home fans nerves eased Grammar put together a 7-0 run courtesy of Ryan Hunt and Lawson Pryor.
Down 96-94 Wilson found nothing but net from beyond the arc only for Hunt to put the visitors ahead by a point once again.
Westlake had 9 seconds to conjure up a winner and although the final play didn’t pan out the way coach Karl Noyer planned, Daley Pohio was in the right place to grab a wayward first attempt and sink his put back before the home bench erupted and swept him off his feet!
AGS 98 – Kiss 30, Hunt 19, Anderson 12, Thompson 11, Hakaraia 11, Pryor 9
Rosmini College also have a 6-1 record after a 94-64 home win against Mt Roskill Grammar School with Jameer Reed and Bart Jackowski logging 24 points each.
Both were on the scoresheet as the hosts scored the first 8 points of the game before Silas Toala got Roskill on the board.
Tino Seuiavatele had 8 first half points for Roskill but significant contributions from all the Rosmini starters meant their lead was 43-25 at half-time.
Led by Wai Tonga Roskill battled away gamely in the second half but Rosmini were not seriously troubled as they secured the W.
Mt Albert Grammar School, paced by a 30-point outing from Mose Leiasamaivao, made it consecutive wins with a 77-69 victory at St Peter’s College.
Alex Davis scored 9 first quarter points as St Peter’s edged the opening phase 23-22. It was equally tight in the second – Mose Leiasamaivao the difference maker as MAGS turned around for the second half 40-39 ahead.
Eight points from Mikey Moses and timely threes from Leiasamaivao and Dayton Simkin stretched the MAGS lead to 64-54 at the three-quarter mark.
MAGS were able to protect their lead although after a Spencer Carr three St Peter’s were able to close within 3 points. The response came from Lucas Cartwright – the MAGS guard hit a triple and then converted a couple of free-throws to ease his team over the line.
St Peter’s College 69 – Davis 16, Carr 15, Bryan Marsters 9, Connor Freeman 8
There was also a 30-point performance at St Kentigern College where the hosts defeated Sacred Heart College 102-78.
On a night when St Kent’s made fifteen threes Cooper Te Ratana made six of them in logging a season high 30 points.
Two of his triples were in the opening quarter and with Charlie Hughes and Cooper Lepou also successful from deep St Kent’s were 27-16 ahead at the first break.
Cameron Stewart scored 10 first half points for Sacred Heart but they trailed 50-28 at half-time.
Threes continued to rain down from St Kent’s – from six different players – in the second half but Sacred Heart, with Sam Snowdon and Max Hakarai keeping the score ticking over, didn’t allow the margin to escalate.

Bailey Flavell scored 68 points as Takapuna Grammar won their Auckland Secondary Schools Girls Premier Grade Round 5 clash with Rangitoto College. There were also wins for Westlake Girls, Manurewa High and St Kentigern.
Bailey Flavell scored a career high 68 points as Takapuna Grammar School won the North Harbour derby at Rangitoto College 100-79. Flavell’s stunning performance keeps Takapuna inside the top four on the Prems ladder.
With Mela Andrews scoring 6 points Rangitoto trailed by just 21-19 at quarter time. However with Flavell and Manaia Watson in good scoring touch Takapuna began to pull away and led 50-36 at half-time.
A couple of threes from Peyton Laurence and regular scores from Maddy Skelton kept the scoreboard moving for Rangi but Flavell had 20 points on her own in the third and with Natalja Burton and Amy McKenzie chipping in with contributions the Taka lead grew to 79-61.
Takapuna had little trouble protecting their advantage in the closing stages.

Westlake Girls High maintained their unbeaten record with a 70-46 win at Mt Albert Grammar.
Lara Cocker-Lemalie posted 6 first quarter points although 10 points from Emma Schroeder propelled Westlake to an 18-13 advantage.
Zenthia Stowers did most of the damage in the second period as Westlake eased out to a 39-23 half-time lead.
The scoring dipped in the third, a period won 10-9 by MAGS with Cocker-Lemalie moving into double figures.
Any chances of a MAGS comeback in the final frame were extinguished by Schroeder’s 3-point plays and 8 straight points from Stowers.
St Kentigern College moved to outright second on the Prems ladder with a 73-57 win at Northcote College.
St Kent’s were quick out the gate establishing a 30-14 lead with Gigi Forster nailing a couple of threes and Ash Tuumaialu racing to 10 points.
Northcote responded with DJ Hannah getting to the rack while Lisa Gear and Ema Lavemaau dropped threes – the deficit down to seven points at half-time (42-35).
Scoring dipped in the second half as defence’s held sway, the combination of guard Tuumaialu and forward Kilani Tuineau proving the game breaker as they scored 27 points apiece.
After losing their opening two games Manurewa High School have peeled off three straight wins with their latest success a 58-48 victory at Epsom Girls Grammar.
The victory seemed unlikely early on as Epsom charged to a 20-5 lead with Draun Forbes, Kiyara Te Amo and Savana Feite dropping threes.
Momentum swung dramatically in the second period as Emily Tanira and Alyssa Uluheua made multiple scores before a triple from Taisha Tanira gave Manurewa a 29-26 half-time lead.
The second half was a tight affair. Forbes and Kiki Reti kept the score moving for Epsom but the collective effort of Manurewa – six players scored 6 points or more – proved the difference.
Manurewa now into the top four!

Round 5 of Auckland Secondary Schools Boys Premier Grade action saw Auckland Grammar maintain their unbeaten start to the season with Rosmini, St Kentigern and Westlake also registering wins.
Jackson Kiss demonstrated why he is headed to Turkey next month with the New Zealand team to compete at the FIBA U17 World Cup during Auckland Grammar’s 95-65 home win over Sacred Heart.
Kiss poured in a season high 41 points in the win with 16 of those made in the opening quarter won 26-18 by Grammar.
With Sam Snowdon scoring 8 points Sacred Heart achieved parity in the second quarter to turn around 47-37 behind.
Grammar enjoyed the better of the third as Kiss received support from Roera Tipene and Lawson Pryor in extending the lead – one they steadily increased throughout the second half.

Also headed to Turkey with the NZ U17’s are Gus Dallow and Jameer Reed and the duo featured prominently for their respective teams as Rosmini College won a thriller in front of a boisterous crowd at St Peter’s College 83-81.
Rosmini led 59-56 at three-quarter time and although never headed St Peter’s drew level on three occasions in the final three minutes.
A Mario Nola And-1 levelled at 77’s before Gus Dallow drives twice tied the scores. His second effort made it 81 points apiece with just 10 seconds to play and when St Peter’s stole the inbounds pass a come from behind victory looked on the cards.
However two resulting shots rimmed out giving Rosmini the chance to win the game with a break-away layup – Bart Jackowski obliged on the buzzer (pictured above).
Dallow finished with 29 points receiving good support from Nola and Bryan Marsters with 13 apiece. Reed led the Rosmini effort with 28 while Liam Bates and the Wyllie’s, Josh and Chris, also made double digit contributions.

On the back of 29 points from Troy Supple Westlake Boys bounced back from Monday’s defeat to record a comfortable 112-68 victory at Mt Albert Grammar.
Supple was into double digits by quarter time as Westlake established a 30-16 lead and was joined in double figures by Noah Rasmussen and Oscar Neville as the lead stretched to 63-31 by half-time.
The MAGS duo of Lucas Cartwright and Dayton Simpkin sunk 9 threes between them as they compiled 42 points while for Westlake, that won each quarter, the Wilson brothers Harper and Lincoln combined for 22 points.

It was only in the final quarter that St Kentigern College were able to pull away from Mt Roskill Grammar to record an 85-77 win.
Paced by 20 points from Tino Seuiavatele Roskill were 46-45 behind at half-time and 63-61 in arrears at the three-quarter mark.
Wai Tonga and Seuiavatele combined for a dozen points in the fourth period but St Kent’s won the frame 23-16 to claim the spoils – a couple of threes in the closing minutes from Cooper Te Ratana tipping the scales in favour of the visitors.
The Te Ratana’s Cooper and Hunter combined for 34 points and Jamie Griffin tallied 16 for St Kent’s who also enjoyed a 10-point outing from Year 9 player Kolo Liku.
Zachan Kemen and Ezra Ogbuze joined Tonga and Seuiavatele in double figures for Roskill.
The win propels St Kent’s into the top four on the Prems ladder.
In Round 4 of Auckland Secondary Schools Girls Premier Grade action on Monday night we saw three games decided by 10 points or less with the closest match being at Mt Albert Grammar School where the home side edged Epsom Girls Grammar School 73-70.
A much improved performance from Epsom Girls, with Draun Forbes scoring 33 points, came close to a first win of the season before eventually going down 73-70.
Epsom were ahead 41-39 at half-time but trailed 58-57 at the three-quarter mark.
Forbes and Savanna Feite kept Epsom in the hunt in the fourth but two triples from Peyton Uri and 7 points from Meiya Lemafa saw MAGS to the win. Lemafa finished with a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds while Gianna Tiatia posted 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 steals.

There was also a close encounter further south where Manurewa High School pulled away in the closing minutes to defeat Northcote College 72-66.
Northcote, with DJ Hannah, Lily Morgan, Lisa Gear and Abby Allan in double figures, were well in contention throughout before Manurewa edged home in the final minutes.
Three points ahead (49-46) at three-quarter time Manurewa held off the Northcote challenge with 23 points in the final ten minutes – scores from Taisha Tanira, Waimihi Hetaraka-Brown and Shirley Tuilimu down the stretch sealing victory.

There was an upset on the cards at Westlake when on the back of a Bailey Flavell three Takapuna Grammar led the hosts 43-39 at the back end of the third period.
An Imani Rasmussen block and rebound enabled Westlake to score in transition on the next possession before the rangy forward then scored herself to put the defending champions back in front.
Soon after Amy McKenzie knocked down a three from all of two metres beyond the arc meaning Takapuna were still in the hunt at three-quarter time trailing 56-50.
The chances of an upset result faded in the final period as Westlake found fourth gear for the first time in the match pulling 19 points clear with Zenthia Stowers scoring 11 points in the frame.
Flavell, Carmen Selby and Adeline Lee reduced the arears – a 10-point loss a truer reflection of the commendable Takapuna performance.
In the final game of the round St Kentigern College returned to winning ways with a 91-69 home win against Rangitoto College.
The catalyst for the St Kent’s win were the performances of Kilani Tuineau and Ashleigh Tuumaialu who posted 29 points and 34 respectively – both I think were career high scoring performances.
Both players were in double figures by half-time – Tuumaialu scoring 21 consecutive points at one stage – as St Kent’s racked up 55 points to lead by 22 at the interval.
Eva Veale led something of a Rangitoto recovery as they were able to share the spoils in the second half (36-36) ahead of a North Shore derby against Takapuna Grammar.

Round 4 of Auckland Secondary Schools Boys Premier Grade action on Monday night saw wins for Rosmini College, Sacred Heart and St Kentigern College. Auckland Grammar moved to outright first on the Prems ladder without playing – their clash with Mt Albert Grammar is being played on Tuesday night.
At Westlake Boys, with Troy Wentworth scoring 11 points, the home side made a solid start against Rosmini College although the same number from Jameer Reed had the visitors ahead 28-23 at the first break.
Rosmini increased their advantage by half-time pushing out to a 54-42 lead.
Threes reigned, and rained down, in the third quarter as Westlake made their first five scores of the period from deep with Troy Supple, Andre Bautista and Noah Rasmussen successful.
Rosmini were not shy from behind the arc either with Bart Jackowski (6 x 3-pointers on the night), Chris Wyllie and Reed productive from distance – Rosmini ahead 74-65.

Josh Wyllie and Reed stretched the lead into double figures again and although Rasmussen and Bautista were able to claw the arears back to 6 points Rosmini held their nerve down the stretch to match Westlake’s 3-1 start to the season.
A terrific all-round performance from Hunter Te Ratana and some sharp shooting from Ollie Bainbridge helped propel St Kentigern College to a narrow 92-86 home win against St Peter’s College.
Bainbridge was a perfect 7 from 7 shooting in making 13 points while Te Ratana amassed 22 points, 23 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks. Jamie Griffin and the Cooper’s Lepou and Te Ratana were also double figure contributors for St Kent’s.
Mario Nola was the mainstay of the St Peter’s effort scoring a game high 27 points with Spencer Carr tallying 21 points, Gus Dallow 14 and Bryan Marsters 11.
St Peter’s started the stronger establishing a 26-19 first quarter lead before St Kent’s had the better of the second – a couple of triples from Hunter Te Ratana helping – to lead 47-44 at half-time.
In a see-sawing contest St Peter’s wrestled back the initiative in the third quarter, courtesy of Nola’s 11 points to carry a 72-70 advantage into the final ten minutes.
St Peter’s were held to 14 points in that final period while the Te Ratana’s combined for 15 to ease the home side over the line.

In another close game Sam Snowdon compiled 28 points, Tyler Taffs added some timely threes and Max Hakaraia battled well in the paint to help Sacred Heart College secure a 79-71 home victory over Mt Roskill Grammar School who were led by a 15-point outing from Tino Seuiavatele.
Taffs hit a brace of threes in the opening period won 28-17 by the home side before timely scores from Wai Tonga and Alfred Kerr brought Roskill back into the picture.
That picture became even rosier for Roskill in the third – multiple scores from skipper Zachan Kemen and Josh Wadams eased them to a 55-54 lead.
Seuiavatele scored 7 points in the fourth but it was a big 15-point quarter from Snowdon – plus half a dozen from Jamie Vile – that eventually saw off the Roskill challenge.
Round 4 of Auckland Secondary Schools Boys Premier Grade action on Monday night saw wins for Rosmini College, Sacred Heart and St Kentigern College. Auckland Grammar moved to outright first on the Prems ladder without playing – their clash with Mt Albert Grammar is being played on Tuesday night.
At Westlake Boys, with Troy Wentworth scoring 11 points, the home side made a solid start against Rosmini College although the same number from Jameer Reed had the visitors ahead 28-23 at the first break.
Rosmini increased their advantage by half-time pushing out to a 54-42 lead.
Threes reigned, and rained down, in the third quarter as Westlake made their first five scores of the period from deep with Troy Supple, Andre Bautista and Noah Rasmussen successful.

There were dominant wins for Northcote College and Westlake Girls High in Round 3 of the Auckland Secondary Schools Girls Premier competition.
It was a third straight victory for Westlake whereas it was a first victory of the season for Northcote. There was also a first win for Manurewa High School and a second success for Takapuna Grammar.
Zenthia Stowers (U18) and Kodee Williams-Sefo (U17) were named earlier in the week to New Zealand age group teams and both were in good form as Westlake logged a century at St Kentigern College to claim a 100-47 win.
Williams-Sefo added 6 steals to 19 points while Stowers had 8 points 7 rebounds and a couple of blocks. Other strong performers for Lake were Lily Fotu, Emma Schroeder, Mia John and Imani Rasmussen.
St Kent’s guard Ash Tuumaialu scored 11 points in the opening half but by then Westlake had established a winning position – ahead 49-21.

Northcote College proved too good for Epsom Girls Grammar winning 83-47.
DJ Hannah scored 14 points to propel Northcote to a 27-6 quarter time lead, an advantage they were able to build through the opening three periods.
Hannah went on to total a game high 30 points – with Lisa Gear scoring 23 and Ema Lavemaau adding a dozen Northcote were always in control.
Without their Year 13 players Epsom were ably led by Olivia Edhouse who scored 24 points.
Bailey Flavell, named earlier in the week to the New Zealand to compete at the U17 World Cup in Mexico in July scored a game high 35 points as Takapuna Grammar held off Mt Albert Grammar School to win 78-68.
Takapuna led 45-35 at half-time and with Flavell in dominant form were 58-44 ahead with a quarter to play.
Meiya Lemafa scored 8 of her team high 24 points in the fourth although 9 points in the spell from Amy McKenzie ensured a Takapuna victory.
Natalja Burton for Takapuna and Peyton Uri and Lara Cocker-Lemalie for MAGS put in strong performances for their respective teams.
The entertainment continued until the last play of the game when a Hale Mary effort from her own half from MAGS guard Waimare Te Runa found nothing but net.
The two promoted teams met at Rangitoto College where Manurewa College defeated the hosts 66-53.
Mela Andrews was outstanding for Rangitoto as she amassed 25 points while Sienna Maurice put together a notable stats line of 11 points (5/10FG), 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Andrews scored a dozen first half points for Rangi but 11 from Beautiful Campbell helped Manurewa to a 31-20 half-time lead.
Manurewa broke the game open in the third as three triples from Emily Tanira and one from Shirley Tuilimu propelled them to a 51-33 advantage.
