A team high 15 points (3/3 triples) helped Sevilla secure a third consecutive win at the expense of Bilbao, 80-69. FIBA Stankovic Cup - Angola v Tall Blacks, 8 August 2011 It is nice to have another Tall Black to follow in the Spanish League. Guard Kirk Penney has joined Sevilla for the second half of the season. Last placed Sevilla hosted sixth placed Valencia and recorded a much needed 79-72 victory, just their fourth success of the season. Penney eased back into action with 3pts, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Rob Loe produced a strong showing in the Greek League playing 24 minutes as a starter for KAO Dramos. Loe came close to a double double with 12 points and 9 rebounds but unfortunately Dramos dropped the game 80-76 to Aries Trikalla. Continue reading

Jarrod+Kenny+YjX2va_SHbom Tall Blacks and Hawkes Bay Hawks point guard Jarrod Kenny has recently joined German club Licher Baeren, Kenny played his second game for Licher on Sunday. Kenny flirted with a triple double, 10pts/7rebs/7assists as Licher edged a thrilling 72-71 win at Dragons Rhondorf. Licher play in the German B League that is split geographically into North and South divisions, they currently sit in the bottom half of the South division with a 5-10 record. Continue reading

Unfortunately BJ Anthony’s season with the Adelaide 36ers has come to an abrupt end. The Tall Black’s power forward was enjoying an outstanding game against former club the Sky City Breakers before he fell innocuously in mid court, suffering a ruptured Achilles. Anthony had contributed 11 points and 9 rebounds before having to be assisted from the court midway through the final period. To make matters worse for Anthony the 36ers suffered an 84-71 home loss.
